We were all shocked and saddened by the recent events in Haiti. As such the club has made a donation to ShelterBox which is an international disaster relief charity that delivers emergency shelter warmth and dignity to people affected by disaster worldwide.
Well December is here and Chrimbo is just around the corner Already gearing up nicely. Thursday evening saw Burnham High Streets Christmas fayre. Alex you took one for the team dressing up as a snowman and harranging all and sundry with Rotaract recruitment literature. I salute you sir

A splendiferous Halloween ...

We got into the spirit of things with a club visit to the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Great Missenden. Big thumbs up to the array of cakes in Cafe Twit Excellent opportunity to get into the world of one of the most versatile and enigmatic writers of his day and to get up close to the jacket that Johnny Depp wore in the 2005 film version of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory ooh Dahls stories for children in particular have a timeless quality about them. To wander through the village of Great Missenden itself where the author lived from 1954 to his death in 1990 is to understand some of the influences on his writing The BP pumps at 64 High Street inspired the description of the garage in Danny the Champion of the World while the timberframed building at Crown House 70 High Street was Dahls inspiration for Sophies norphanage in The BFG.
To round off a spooky day nicely we headed down to High Wycombe Rotaracts excellent Halloween party in the evening. Always a good show th...

Another Busy Rotaract Weekend ...

Phew Still recovering from another mad Rotaract weekend our clubs very own Pub Skittles night on Friday followed by the 10K run for Cancer Research at a very blustery Dorney Lake on Sunday. Shout outs go to champion Skittler Keith Evans from Burnham Rotary who knocked down all before him at the Seven Stars Pub on the A4 while it was great to see the out of district Woking Rotaract contingent on the night. Oh and also to our club members who selflessly called redraw when they kept winning raffle prizes Think we raised in the region of 16340 for good causes.
2 club members ran the 10K on the Sunday raising over 163200 for Cancer Research where we bumped into Maidenhead Rotaracts contingent who were marshalling on the day. Eton College have got a very impressive set up down there at the rowing lake bring on the Olympics in 2012 cant wait Postrun debrief at the Pineapple pub down the road in the Dorney hugely busy but the London Pride and legendary Fish Finger sandwiches made up fo...

And thats a wrap guys Well after a truly mammoth Sunday in sweltering late Summer conditions weve finally got all the scenes in the can for our club entry to the inaugral Rotaract District 1090 Film Festival. Ahead lies many nights of rigourous editing to get our entry down to the maximum allowable 6 minutes. At this juncture Im not allowed to divulge any more about our film except to say that Im now busily researching copyright law on the internet I hope to get some teaser movie stills up here in due course but in the meantime you eager beaver movie buffs out there will just have to wait for the grand screening at the Film Festival on Saturday 14th November. .... And cut
